Mayflower Road, How Wood

The Clients found this corner site with a small bungalow and separate garage and wanted to explore modernising the whole house. Retaining the existing structures, we retained the external envelope but stripped out the main house to create a new large kitchen/dining/living space, We then converted and enlarged the existing garage to create two bedrooms and linked the two with a new central living space, creating a new private courtyard which all three spaces opened on to.

Sustainably reusing the existing structure but with new windows, new external insulation and render, the house has been brought up to date with an air-source heat pump, solar panels and batteries and is now a highly thermally efficient and warm house.

The photographs show that the external planting and landscaping has still to be completed.
