Clifton Road, Kingston Upon Thames
This is an extension for a family of four to an elegant Victorian house in a conservation area. The extension to the side and rear on ground and first floor increased the size of the kitchen extending it into the garden creating a new glazed and bright dining area. On the first floor the extension increased the size of a tiny box room to create a new comfortable and well-lit bedroom.
The extension was carefully designed so that it matched the scale, roof scape and the red brick detailing of the main house rendering it almost invisible from the front and the road. At the rear the extension was a modern glazed box creating a new and stronger relationship with the garden allowing the existing small paved area to be used as intended for sitting and outdoor eating.
A new fitted kitchen created a sleek and modern interior echoed in the large stone floor tiles.
